Medical Advice

Please contact the school before 9.00am to advise if your child is going to be absent from school due to sickness.

Sickness Guidelines for Exclusion from School

Please note that for all sickness and diarrhoea related illnesses, the school would not expect the child to return to school until 48 hours have elapsed since the last episode. An early return will result in parents being contacted to take their child home.

Management of Headlice

Headlice are extremely common in close-knit environments such as schools. Please check your child's hair regularly and treat accordingly.

Medicines in School

From time to time your child may be well enough to attend school but requires medicine throughout the day. The only medications we can administer are prescription medicines. Please refer to our medication policy for full details. All medicines in school must be handed in to the school office. Pupils should not have any medication in their bags.

First Aid in School

We have a number of staff qualified to undertake first aid. Where your child has been treated by a first aider, he or she will bring home a note giving details of the incident and the treatment to ensure you are informed should further treatment become necessary.

If your child has had a head injury, or have required medication during the school, they will also be given a temporary wristband detailing what has happened. We have found this system to be highly effective for such cases.

Where a child requires emergency treatment this will be sought by the staff 'in loco parentis' and the parents / carers will be contacted. Please make sure that your contact details are up to date.
