Letters regarding the new Uniform to be worn from 2017 have been sent home on 25th April 2015. A copy of this letter, the uniform requirements and supplier details for September can be found at the bottom of this page. This also includes the design boards which one of our supplies produced to show us what the new uniform will look like.

Uniform 2016-17 (until end July 2016 only)

The wearing of uniform is important. It makes the task of choosing clothes much simpler and avoids the need to monitor fashionable trends that may distract children from their purpose in working at school. Our  uniform looks smart and gives the children a school identity.  Make-up, including nail varnish, is not appropriate and must not be worn.

With effect from September 2016 our uniform will be as follows:

  • Grey trousers or skirt which must be on or just below the knee.  In the summer grey shorts can be worn.  Leggings must not worn.
  • Blue/white gingham dress
  • Pale blue polo shirt
  • Navy blue sweatshirt
  • White, grey or black socks
  • Grey tights may be worn with a grey skirt during the winter months
  • Sensible plain black shoes – high heels and backless sandals are inappropriate for school wear.

Please ensure that your child wears a coat during the cold winter months and that they have a waterproof coat in school during the warmer months of the year and always when going swimming.

Our uniform for P.E. and Games activities is as follows:

•              Navy blue shorts

•              Navy blue tracksuit or jogging bottoms

•              White t-shirt

•              Trainers for outdoor P.E. or Games

It is important that children have appropriate sports clothing in which to change. They should not wear sports clothing throughout the day.  Girls should wear a one piece swimsuit not a bikini for their school swimming lesson. Boys’ knee length swim shorts are also not suitable for swimming.

In the interests of health and safety all children with hair longer than shoulder length must tie it back at all times.

Children are expected to exercise considerable care in looking after their own things. All clothing and belongings MUST be clearly marked with the child’s name. Valuable items should not be brought to school.  The school will accept no responsibility for any loss or damage to personal property or valuables.  For this reason, please discourage your child from bringing ‘treasured items’ to school.

We make every effort to re-unite lost property to its owner.  There is a box for lost property in the Medical Room which parents are welcome to search.  Items of property that cannot be identified are eventually deposited in a clothing bank.

The wearing of jewellery

The schoolstrongly discourages pupils from wearing jewellery and cannot take responsibility for any jewellery worn.  Permitted jewellery consists of small plain studs for pierced ears and a plain watch.  No other jewellery is permitted in school.

The Local Authority has issued guidance to all schools on Health and Safety issues relating to the wearing of jewellery, particularly in P.E. and Technology lessons. The advice is that for safety and hygiene reasons, earrings, ear studs and other jewellery (metal or plastic) must not be worn during sporting activities, P.E., swimming or technology lessons.  Children will be expected to remove any jewellery for these lessons.  No taping of ears is allowed. It is suggested that if children are having their ears pierced this takes place in the summer holidays. New piercing means no PE or swimming for 6 weeks.
