'A' Team Football Tournament

Date Published

On Thursday June 4th, we braved the weather and took our football 'A' team to the large schools cup competition at Brampton Primary School. Our first match was against the hosts and we started well with Henry scoring our first goal from long range. Daniel, in goal, made some great saves to keep the score at 1-0 before Luca scored our second. We unfortunately conceded one goal but held on to win the game with Noah making a great saving tackle in the final moments. Our second game was against Round House Primary from St Neots and it was a really good game in which we created lots of great chances to score. Our younger players from Year 4, Noah and Monty stood out in this one with Daniel again playing really well to keep the opposition out. Ultimately, the deadlock could not be broken and the match ended 0-0. Our final game was against Thorndown Primary from St Ives and it started in torrential rain. As the rain eased, Thorndown scored from a corner but we did not give up and kept pushing forward. Archie had been switched to play up front and his determination to get to the ball gave him the opportunity to make a lovely pass to Luca who scored confidently. We kept pushing but just could not score so we ended with another draw 1-1. The whole team represented the school brilliantly just missing out on the trophy to Brampton - who we beat in our first game. Thanks to Mr Taylor for coaching, referreeing and to Mr Mills for his coaching this year.
