Religion and Worldviews

We follow the Cambridgeshire (Ely) syllabus in the statutory area of religion.
We have moved our towards a religion and worldviews curriculum. ‘Worldviews’ encompasses both religious and non-religious worldviews. This new name does not however imply that the amount of learning about religion within the subject is in any way diminished, we are just approaching it from a different angle.
We will continue to ensure that children learn about the main features and teachings of the principal religious faiths through reflection, discussion, debate and comparison with their own religion. Where possible, this is enhanced with visits or visitors and is taught in a practical and engaging way.
Through this they develop their thinking and reasoning skills, the ability to understand things from alternate viewpoints and to gain a greater understanding of the world in which they live.
PSHE
We follow the Cambridgeshire Scheme of Work for PSHE and this is augmented by resources from the PSHE association and visits from other organisations such as “Magistrates in the community”, “KickAsh” and the “NSPCC”.
The scheme of work progressively covers all area of Personal Development including: Behaviour, Rights and responsibilities, Health and Wellbeing and SRE.
Our SRE policy was updated in the summer term 2023 following a consultation with stakeholders. The policy can be found on our policies page and below.
